Between 1938 and Oct. 14, 1941Savage who owned Stevens filled for patent number 2259397 for a firing pin selector on 4/11/1940 and had it granted on 10/14/1941. This puts your Stevens in production with the words patent pending anywhere between the production start date in 1938 and the granting of the patent. A provisional patent may have been filed 18 months prior to the application being submitted sometime in late 1938. Tenite was used prewar as well as during and post. I have a prewar patent pending Tenite stocked .22/.410. 1938-50This gun was manufactured as the 22-410 from 1938-1950. A walnut stock will indicate an earlier model, tenite plastic a later model.

What is the age and value of a Stevens Model 33 shotgun?

The "J.Stevens" name was shortened to "Stevens" in 1940. What you need to look for is the chamber size, which should be stamped on the barrel. It needs to be 2 & 3/4 inches to shoot modern ammo. Also Stevens usually stamped near the chamber size if the barrel was proof tested. My Stevens single is stamped "Proof Tested Steel" and it handles modern ammo well, but kicks like a mule. To be really safe, let a gunsmith look at it.

What year was the Stevens model 311A savage arms corp chicopee falls Mass made with side by side and 10K circled double trigger all wood stock and forearm?

My sources tell me that production years are letter coded in the number letter combo stamped on the bottom of the reciever. Codes start with A = which equals 1949. I just picked one up stamped M and the listing said it was made in 1960. So I would guess that yours is circa 1959.

If it also says "& Co" or "A & T" it will be older and may not.
