What is the appeal of ipods or mp3s versus CDs?

[Edit]

Answer

Well, I can fit several hundred CDs worth of music in my pocket on an iPod, and every track is available at my fingertips. Not to mention my photos, podcasts, videos, and TV shows.

That, and no matter how much I handle my iPod, the music tracks don't get scratched. And everything is backed up in iTunes (and on a backup drive), if anything should happen to the original data.

So convenience is a big HUGE factor.
