Our Boxer (70-80lbs) is being valium in conjunction with phenobarbytal for seizure control. Dosage is 5mg twice a day with an upper limit of 20 mg per day.
i think you are confused as the 5 mg is 0.5 which is half of mg and 2.0 not 20mg somome would kill themselves not to mention there dog i personally take lorazapam amd its 0.5 and 1.0 and 2.0 dosage
Animal owners should contact their vets. Valium is metabolized differently in canines than it is in humans. Valium does not come in 0.5mg doses as the second answer is stating. All doses should be given as per a vet's instructions. My dog has been prescribed 20-40mg as needed for storm anxiety.
