I think it is how Paul is turning into a new person...like symbols support it. Like the muck fire. It represents Paul being afraid of Erik. And it slowly drifts away on the day of Luis' funeral, when it says Paul got his blue suit on and went outside and wept into the soil for Luis. The wind slowly blows the fire's smoke away, which represents it. That's one symbol. I think I'm right, not sure though. I put that on my project and i hope its right.

The book Tangerine sets off as they are moving to a new house in Florida. They go to this school in Florida called Lake Windsor School. Paul gets rejected from the soccer team because of his eyesight and goes to another school in a different district called Tangerine. But his brother Erik stays at Lake Windsor School.One thing, His brother is a great kicker in football and Paul is half blind because his brother blinded him by spraying spray paint into his eyes when he was young.
