  • I don't know about a 15-year-old boy but I am 13 and, with regular workouts, I can do about 135 pounds. However, I would say that at my school I'm way above average.
  • I have just turned 14-years-old and I am capable of benching 310 lbs. Although that is about 200 lbs over what the average person of my age should be able to do. That said I would guess that the average weight that a 15- year- old could bench would be approximately 110-130 lbs. That being on average, I would not say it is uncommon to see someone doing up to 150 lbs.
  • As a 16-year-old male, I participate in a personal training/conditioning workout. This workout is part of my tennis and there are no weights involved but trust me, this style of exercising will definitely help you become stronger and in all around better physical condition. The only warning I have to give you is that you need to understand how the exercises work; they use the weight of your own body to help you get stronger. You don't need a personal trainer however I strongly recommend one so you don't hurt yourself with improper form. As for how much I can bench, I haven't checked.
  • I started Weightlifting last year for my high school. At 14-years-old, I maxed out at 135 pound last summer. Then 185 during school and 225 now I am 15. I GUESS the only reason why I gained so much so fast is that I am an offence/defensive lineman at 5' 10" and weigh 212 lbs.
  • I am only 13 years of age and I weigh 165. I can bench 235 and push 1000 pounds with my legs. I play Baseball and do MMA.
  • I am 14 years old and lifting above average for my body weight and height. I am 5' 8" and weigh 146 pounds and bench press maxed out at 170 pounds. This is after lifting for about a year. The average for my age would be anywhere from 100-125 pounds.
  • I am 15 years old and I started benching 3 months ago. Now I can bench 48kg 8 reps. I think my max rep is over 60kg although I have never tried 1 rep max because its very dangerous for me as i have no spotter to make sure im safe.I have many friends my age and know a lot of people and most of them cannot bench 1 rep of 40kg.

Can a 16 year old male bench 230?

It is possible, yes. Everyone is built differently depending on genetics and fitness levels, so it's not a guarantee. There exist some boys of that age bench pressing over 300, and others who cannot move their arms at all. A very high level of fitness is required to bench press 230 pounds, so it is not average nor expected.

12 isn't a good time to be comparing bench presses. At the early adolescent stages, growth and strength varies greatly between individuals. However, anything above 80 pounds is highly impressive at this age.
