How much does an average club DJ earn?

For instance, a mobile disc jockey may be paid $800 for one performance, but they may only perform twice a month. Meanwhile, a club disc jockey may be paid $10/hour but with a full time position, the club disc jockey would be making just as much as a mobile disc jockey without including tips. Also take into account that a mobile disc jockey has expenses that a club disc jockey doesn't and you'll see that the club disc jockey in my example actually make more that the mobile disc jockey.

That's a very tough question to answer. There are several things to be considered. #1. Is the club supplying the music, if the club has a subscription to a service and is supplying the music, of course the DJ will be earning less the a DJ that has to research and purchase his/her own music. #2. Location and Club. ... If your a DJ in a little town working in some mom/pop bar/club, your gonna make less the a big city DJ. #3. If you've earned a name for your self, your gonna make more the the DJ just starting out. #4 Its going to depend on how long your set is, typically a set is 4 - 6 hours in a club or 1 - 2 hours if your doing a circuit party,,,, So.. all that considered, .. breaking it down by hour.. anywhere from $25 to $1,000 an hour.. that does not include other perks that may be included, Air Travel, Hotel Stays, Free Drinks, etc.

i get £27.50 a hour for pubs and normally do a min of 4 hours there

and as a club dj i get £40 a hour with a min of 5 hours

Well, that can vary, it all depends on what you the customer requires. from a basic setup to a mega watt sound and light system with lasers, pyrotechnics and giant screens, and how long you want the DJ to work.

Down here the basic setup with DJ costs you £120, although like every job there are cowboys who work for far less, you get what you paid for.

I call it a basic setup, but it is far from that.

For the big rig system (bearing in mind it takes the best part of two hours to set up)(and take down), it would set you back £450. All the equipment used and hired by me is PAT tested, Insured, and Liability insurance is carried as well.
