The best lucid dream technique involves using two or three dream exercises. These exercises include visualization of what you want to dream about and reading material about the subject before going to bed. It is also important to be completely relaxed before turning in for the night.

Was lucid dreaming ever scientifically explored and proven?

YES. The answer is yes. A few decades ago (I don't remember the exact date) Two men independently proved lucid dreaming to be a real phenomenon using very similar methods. One of the men was Stephen Laberge of what is now the Lucidity Institute, and the other I believe was Alan Worseley (but don't quote me on that). They both did experiments where a subject went to sleep intending to have a lucid dream. The subject was hooked up to a machine that measures eye movements, and when he had achieved the lucid dream state he was to use his closed eyes to send a signal (left, right, left, right, very slowly). The eye muscles are one of the only muscles that remain un-paralyzed during REM sleep, so this was a pretty good plan. Both parties were successful in sending/receiving messages from a lucid dream, and lucid dreaming is now a scientifically verified fact. I know my account of it isn't chock full of details, but you can find a full version of Laberge's experiment at www.lucidity.com, with graphs and big words and everything. Can you control the outcome of your dreams?

Yes. As soon as you become aware that you are dreaming you can start controlling the dream. However, you wont be able to control everything, your subconsious will just have to share with you. The biggest problem is trying not to wake up as soon as you realize youre dreaming though.

Has anyone else ever had a lucid dream?

Many people experience lucid dreams, though relative to the general population, people who experience this state of consciousness are still in the extreme minority.

Why can't I force myself to have a specific dream?

To an extent, you can. You can seed your mind with certain thoughts on a regular basis before falling asleep. Or you can learn how to do lucid dreaming.A different answer:You cannot force yourself to have a specific dream because dreaming is a function of your unconscious mind. Your will, that part of you that wants to have a certain dream, is your conscious mind, and these two different mental states are quite separate.> As stated above, it is possible to "seed" or "incubate" a certain topic to increase the likelihood of dreaming about it. For example, you might want to dream about the winning lotto numbers. However, even if you succeed in dreaming about the lottery, you won't necessarily have a dream that clearly shows the winning numbers. You might dream of your grandmother winning, or see thousands of lottery cards floating on the ocean, or find yourself running endlessly toward the lotto jackpot without ever reaching it. This is because your unconscious mind is not at all interested in creating a dream to please your conscious mind, but instead, has its own purpose. Your unconscious might use the topic you "seed," but will present it according to its own purposes.> Lucid dreaming is much the same. You might be one of those who are able to become aware (conscious / lucid ) while dreaming, and learn to take control of the events in your dreams. Unfortunately, most individuals discover that the claims about lucid dreaming found on the Internet and in other media are vastly exaggerated.

How do you control dreams?

Answer : Most people say you cant comrol your dreams but you actually can you can write the dream down on a peice of paper but make it full detail....Put the paper under your pellow and then when you go to sleep you're dream is mostly likely for you to have it trust me ive did it!!!!! Sometimes, you can in a way. If you go to sleep thinking about a movie or thinking about something really scary or sad, you will more than likely have a nightmare that night or the next. Then again have your parents ever told you to think about something happy when you disturb their sleep at midnight because you had a bad dream? Not every one can control their dreams. I know that sometimes, if you try hard, you can dream about one thing, like a girl I know watched Twlight 5 times, and said she went to bed thinking about it. Of course, she dreamt she got marrried to Edward. Sorry, Stephanie :( Not gonna happen! lol. ~Cherry.girl** This is a type of dream called Lucid Dreaming. Lucid Dreaming is when, like you said it, control your own dreams. Like the first answer, that is one way to do it, but another way is when you tell yourself (While you're in a dream!) that you know you're dreaming. This is hard because most people are carried away in their dream and they don't know that they are doing it. This will take time and practice but trust me, soon you will be able to control your own dreams easily. Out of nowhere, when I was 8 years old, I started Lucid Dreaming, but I really didn't know what I was doing. I just thought of something and, poof! There it is, right in my dream. When you finally get the hang of Lucid Dreaming, it turns out to be really fun, but sometimes it doesn't go the way you expect. Hope I helped!
