Answer:
From my experience with my kittens, none of them will touch most dry food. Tescos own kitten/cat biscuits do have some good quality food.
Answer:
The best cat foods are the ones with a very high meat content (labelled as Chicken, Turkey, Tuna, etc.) as the FIRST ingredient with no grains, wheat, or corn. Foods that are free of grains, corns, and wheat gluten are highly recommended as these are cheap "filler" that bulk up foods - but have no nutritional value for your kitten. Wet food with these specifications are much easier to find than in dry food.
Many brands of dry food and low quality wet foods are packed with corns and grains. This is cheap carbohydrate filler that the food manufacturers use as its a cheaper source of protein than meat is. Unfortunately, cats cannot digest such complex carbohydrate and could cause a kitten to have an upset stomach, and a kitten with diarrhea can get very dehydrated very quickly and that can easily become fatal.
Kittens and cats are strict carnivores. They get all their nutritional needs from meat. Kittens in particular, need a lot of Protein and Fat in order to grow and develop in a healthy manner. Kittens need twice as much Protein as an adult cat does, so don't be surprised if you are feeding your kitten much more than you would an adult cat. Also, kittens have small stomachs, so the best method of feeding is "little and often", as often as four to six times a day for very young kittens.
For high-quality Cat food there is: Wellness, EVO, Orijen, Bozita (the canned stuff is 90+% meat and can be bought from zooplus.co.uk), Applaws (70+% meat and comes in both tinned and dry), HiLife (60% meat), to name a few.
At the end of the day, NO dry food is the best choice for your cat. If you have to feed dry, I'd suggest 'Wellness' brands. I feed Wellness canned food exclusively - no dry at all. If you read their FAQ you'll get lots of information regarding proper food requirements for your cats AND dogs.
I'm not sure if there is a decent "cheap" cat food! Most cheaper brands are filled with corns and grains and cereals which are just cheap filler and provide no nutrition to the cat. Try looking for a cat or kitten food that has no grains or cereals in and contains named meat sources at the first of the ingredients list.
I feel the best way to choose good food for your cat is to read the ingredients.

I feel the need to expand on the first answer:
Brands like Orijen, Blue Buffalo, Felidae, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Burns amongst others are some of the highest quality dry food you could feed your cat.
The healthiest (and possibly the best-tasting) dry cat foods are the ones completely free of grain, corn and other cereals and have named meat content (labelled as Chicken, Turkey, Rabbit, Lamb, Tuna, etc.) as the FIRST ingredient, or even better, the first three. Many higher quality brands use small amounts of rice or potatoes in place of the cereals, while still not wholly ideal (cats get very little, if any, nutrition from carbohydrates and cannot easily digest them), it is much better and easier on a cat's digestive system.

Such ingredients commonly cause food Allergies and sometimes can cause obesity and Diabetes if fed over a long period of time.
However, a cat should not be solely fed dry food. If your cat likes wet food, it may be ideal to primarily feed this, and supplement with dry. Canned food is preferable to feed a cat due to the the amount of moisture in this type of food. Cats are notoriously bad drinkers, even when they are thirsty. This is because they have evolved to get all their needed moisture from their prey (their ancestors were cats that lived in very dry and arid environments where water was hard to come by), so therefore have a low "thirst drive" and will not often seek out water on their own.
Canned or pouched food has anywhere between 60 to 80% water. Seeing as in the wild a cat's prey is around 65%-75% water, wet food provides a cat with more than enough water each day. Most dry foods have either zero or 10% moisture in.
That is up too your cat. Try using a few different types of cat food to find the right one your cat enjoys the most.
Hope this helped you out.
Most brands made especially for cats are safe for your pet. It's healthier for the cat if you choose a brand that doesn't have "corn meal" as the first, primary ingredient.
One of the best dry cat foods is Nature's Logic, which is all natural.
If I were a cat, I would prefer fish over dry cat food or canned. Besides I don't know what it is but cats are drawn to fish like a magnet.
You can get cat that has micrognathia to eat dry food from places where Cats gets less nutrition.
Cats eat dry cat food and canned cat food. This is what is bought from pet stores. Cats in the wild however have to hunt for their food.
IAMs cats is the best dry cat food but you should stick to giving them a balanced meal such as a little bit of dry food and a bit of wet food.
this is quite the...um...less smart question :) you feed the cats wet cat food if they are kittens and dry cat food if they are not kittens.

This solely depends what the owner feeds it and what the cat is used to.
