Hi, when I was your age I was overweight myself. First I would say that as I began to enter my teenage years (13 or so) I dropped a lot of the weight. There're a lot of things that happen as you grow up and weight loss can be one of them. However, if you wish to get a good start, you can do some simple exercises. See a doctor first if there are some physical complications to keep you from doing these. Do some good stretching exercises and warm up properly. This will help prevent injuries. Jog in place for 30 seconds or so, and then do about 10 jumping jacks to get your blood pumping. To tone up your arms, do some push-ups. Make sure your arms form at least a 90-degree angle. Try doing 10 good ones until you get the hang of it. Then do some crunches. Make sure you pull with your stomach muscles, and not your neck. Again, do 10 good ones until they don't tire you out, then increase by 5 or so. Walking is great for fat-burning too. I would try to walk at least 20 minutes on a treadmill, or better yet, outside. Make sure you get a good stretch on your legs beforehand! When you're done, do some more stretches to cool down. Again, this will help injuries. And don't forget your diet! Eat smaller portions, and drink lots of water. You can lose a lot of weight just by cutting out sugary snacks and sodas. And remember, have confidence in yourself. Don't let anyone get you down or tell you you can't do it. Let that motivate you to try even harder.

Yes. You tell them to cut all the pop and junk food out of the every day diet. It is really hard to do in the summer but subsitute candy and sugary sweets with fresh fruit and low calorie crystal light and kool aid. Also you can help them exercise by going for walks with them and bike rides. You can have fun and lose weight at the same time. You don't want to hurt their feelings by telling them to go on a diet so you say that you want to go on a diet or you want to improve your health and ask if anyone wants to do it with you. My 8 yr. old daughter is a little chunky and that is what i did and it worked. I don't need to lose weight myself, so i said i want to improve on my health and it worked!! Good luck!!

(Having restricted the refined processed carbohydrates, allow them as an occasional treat. That will enable an 11-year-old to get used to not having such foods without feeling totally deprived.) Over consumption of refined processed carbohydrates are a major cause of weight gain, obesity, lethargy and lack of energy, or hyperactivity and restlessness, as well as dental cavities, high blood, insulin resistance, type 2 Diabetes, Heart disease, and other diet related diseases (in both children and adults). 4. Replace refined processed carbohydrates with the so-called 'fat burning foods

5. Limit the intake of saturated fat. Avoid fried foods. However, use beneficial (good) fats and oils. Having some fat in ones diet is essential to health and essential to sustain life. Unlike protein and fats, carbohydrates are not essential to sustain life.

Eat 5 portions of fresh vegetables/salad per day, plus a low carbohydrate fruit such as berries (other fruits can be too high in sugar/carbohydrates for an overweight child), and (unless you are vegetarian) eat adequate quantities of plain fish (no breadcrumbs or batter), chicken, lamb, beef, etc.

Developing good eating and exercise habits at the age of 11 years will not only enable a child to lose weight, but will also benefit the child for the rest of his or her life.

9. If your 11-year is physically capable, cardio (cardiovascular) exercise or cardio activities or cardio sports are excellent fat burners. Any activity that increases your heart and respiration rates for a specific period is cardiovascular exercise. There are different degrees of cardio from mild to intense. A good one for beginners is brisk walking (outdoors or treadmill). Walking is easier on your body than jogging or running and it is sustainable.

Regular exercise and good nutrition is the key to losing weight for everyone, including an 11 year old. I'd higly recommend eliminating the junk food also.
