The most common way that I saw when I was there was a bus. You can find many bus services on Khaosan Road, backpacker central. The roads are not too bad from Bangkok to the border of Cambodia, but make sure you have motion sickness medication if you don't like bumpy rides. From the border to Siem Reip is quite a ride!
