What is the best way to wash pillows in the washer?

[Edit]
Use lukewarm water and very little detergent.

If they are feather pillows, before you wash, make sure there are no holes in the seams of the pillows.

If using a top-loader washer with an agitator be sure to use the delicate cycle (to avoid damaging them) and wash 2 pillows at a time to balance the spin cycle.

They will take a long time to dry in the dryer. It really helps if you have a clean pair of sneakers or tennis shoes (or even tennis balls) to put in with them. The bouncing shoes will help them dry faster.

If washing at home, running an extra spin cycle at the end of the wash cycle will lessen the drying time. (This option is generally not available at laundromats.)
