April through July is the bloom time for buttercups [Ranunculus spp]. The hairy plant stems grow 2 - 3 feet [60.96 centimeters - 0.9144 meters] tall. At the top are glossy yellow flowers that have five petals.

The plant's bright, attractive flowers attract insects. But otherwise, nature tends to be wary of the beautiful buttercup. The reason lies in the bitter juice that the plant contains and that can be quite an irritant. Precisely because of that irritation, cows won't go anywhere there are buttercups!

June through August is the bloom time for milkweed [Asclepias syriaca]. The wildflower reaches a mature height of 2 - 6 feet [60.96 centimeters - 1.8288 meters] tall. At the top of the leaves, which grow oppositely, are clusters of tiny reddish-pink to purple flowers.
