The capital of Ecuador is Quito.
With a population of around 2 million, the capital of Eucador is "San Francisco de Quito", or more commonly just Quito. Its founding dates back to the early 1500's, and takes its name from the Quitu tribe of indians which inhabited the area a thousand of years before before. It has been been the one and only capital of Ecuador, being named as such when the former country of "Gran Colombia" disloved into the present day Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela.
