Polar bears have almost 4 inches of blubber to keep them warm. There is a process in almost all animals to regulate a normal state, called homeostasis. This keeps the body at the right temperature, keeps you from having too much water in your body, keeping energy levels at a proper rate, etc. Things like peeing to regulate your water, sweating to keep you cool, burning fat for energy is all homeostasis.
