4 Fe+ 3O2 + 6 H2O 4 Fe(OH)3 <------ this is rubbish.

Actually it is :

2 Fe + 3 O2 + (x)H2O -------> 2 Fe2O3 + (x)H2O

This means that water doesn't actually react, but is necessary to perform the reaction and comes out as it is.
