Best Answer

Fungal nomenclature follows the International Botanical Code of Nomenclature. The criteria for the different taxonomic categories are different for each phylum. However, much of the classification is based on sexual reproduction or, when that is not present, asexual reproduction. (For some groups, both modes of reproduction are used.)

Fungi are a very special group of organisms. But, like with other groups, sexual traits are the main classification subjects. The more importante are the sexual (meiotic) structures, like basidiospores, zygospores, ascospores, etc.

Also cellular structures, like cell wall made of chitin, ultracellular structures like the anastomosing arrengements called hyphae and mycelia.

Genetic and physiological traits are used, too.

What are the five main kingdoms of classification?

Monera (Archaebacteria & Eubacteria), Protista, fungi, plantae, anamalia

What is traditional classification?

In biology, tradition classification is based on the obvious similarities between species. In this classification, organisms are categorized into five kingdoms, called Plantae, Animalia, Fungi, Protista and Monera.

Why do you use the terms Monera and bacteria to describe a kingdom?

The six kingdoms in organism classification are: animals, plants, protists, fungi, archaebacteria, and eubacteria.

Are fungi plants or animals?

They are of their own kingdom; Fungi. They generally are decomposers, not photosynthesizers. Some "fungi" are difficult to classify and have been classified as fungi because they have more similarities with fungi than actual plants or other life-forms.It is a life-form that is widely researched and some specimens tickle many a scientist brain as to where they actually belong. This middle paragraph seems to confuse Fungi with Protista. " Scientists brains are not tickled " as to where Fungi belong as they are all Eumycota. The only dispute over classification is within the group Fungi as molecular genetics has challenged some taxonomy that classified Fungi physically. Fungi are not plants, animals or protists.

Why are the imperfect fungi imperfect?

Imperfect fungi are considered imperfect because they do not exhibit in any of its life cycle both means of reproduction - sexual and asexual reproduction. Their most common means of reproduction is by asexual reproduction.AnswerThey were called imperfect because no one understood their life styles "perfectly". Also there is current debate over how to classify these fungi. The imperfect fungi were once grouped in the phylum Deuteromycota, however this phylum has been removed and there is currently no place for these asexual fungi in the current fungal classification system. It is because there has never been a sexual reproductive stage observed from them. B.

What is the basis of classification between bacteria and fungi?

Bacteria are single-celled organisms that lack a nucleus and other organelles, while fungi are multicellular organisms that possess a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. Additionally, bacteria have a cell wall made of peptidoglycan, while fungi have a cell wall made of chitin. Finally, bacteria reproduce by binary fission, while fungi reproduce through spores.

Most scientists accept what kingdom classification system?

Most scientists accept the traditional five-kingdom classification system, which includes the kingdoms of Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista, and Monera. However, some scientists now prefer the three-domain system, which categorizes organisms into Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.
