Sunflowers usually have yellow petals and a brown center.Some specific varieties have a reddish tint at the base of the petals, giving them a bit of a "bullseye" appearance. At the bottom of the Wikipedia article (in Related Links) there are pictures of several different kinds of sunflowers.

All of the petals of a flower are called a corolla. The calyx, made up of sepals, is located beneath (behind) the corolla. The sunflower is one of those plants that has a flower head. The inner florets have very reduced (small) petals. They will form the fruits/seeds. The outer florets (ray or petal bearing florets) can be yellow, red, orange or a combination of those colors.
