What is TDS and TSS in waste water?

TDS - Total Dissolved Solids TSS - Total Suspended Solids "Dissolved solids" refer to any minerals, salts, metals, cations or anions dissolved in water. Total dissolved solids (TDS) comprise inorganic salts (principally calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, bicarbonates, chlorides and sulfates) and some small amounts of organic matter that are dissolved in water. The suspended or colloidal particles, commonly referred to as total suspended solids (TSS), are all the extremely small suspended solids in water which will not settle out by gravity. How do freshwater and saltwater compare in terms of their dissolved solids?

The amount of dissolved solids is less in freshwater.

What is the difference between total dissolved solids and total suspended solids?

total dissolved solids is how much of the solid is dissolved in the liquid, while suspended total suspended solids is the amount of the solid floating in the liquid. e.g. if you had a solution with both and you filtered the solution then evaporated out the liquid, the solids that you filtered out would be the suspended solids, and the the solids remaining after evaporating the liquid out would be the disolved solids.

Does the level of total dissolved solids in water affect chlorine disinfection?

The level of total dissolved solids in water does affect chlorine disinfection. That's why there is a recommended specification for the level of total dissolved solids in water for the water that is sent to homes.

Are All Solids Disolve In Water?

No. Some solids can be dissolved in water, some can't.
