The dose really varies with age and weight and condition. For a child it can be dosed up to 80 or 90mg/kg per day (2.2 lbs = 1kg). For adults the recommended dose is up to 1000mg twice a day but we are now seeing doses even higher than that which are often clinically appropriate.
