As an emergency veterinarian, I prescribe 22 mg/kg by mouth every 12 hours. It is difficult for owners to give their pets medications 3 times a day for 7-14 days. The standard dose is 22 mg/kg two times daily.

Cephalexin is a very strong antbiotic. This medicine can only be prescribed by a veterinarian who SHOULD have put the dosing instructions on the pill bottle. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT give this medication to any dog in which it has not been prescribed!

This will depend upon the formulation of the Cefaclor, the location and type of infection being treated and the overall health status of the dog. As Cefaclor is a prescription antibiotic, the good news is in the United States you don't need to figure this out on your own - your veterinarian will figure out the dose then write you a prescription specific for your dog, including dose administration route and frequency.
