Acts:8:20: But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Baptism is absolutely free!!!!! ANSWER #2 Baptism, along with all the sacraments of the Christian church cannot be bought with money, although I am always horrified to see an envelope of money being given to the priest or pastor after administering any of the sacraments. In the first century of Christianity, a Samaritan named Simon Magus (Simon the magician/or sorcerer) attempted to buy the miraculous powers of the apostles, especially the power of healing by the laying on of hands. This became known as the sin of 'simony'. Stories of Simon's ability to levitate and fly of his own accord would haunt Christians right into the middle ages.
There is never a charge or cost for any of the sacraments, that is a very serious sin known as simony. A voluntary offering made be made to the priest, this is called a stole fee (an offering to help the priest buy things that he needs and uses for the sacraments), but it is entirely voluntary and never required.

John the baptist' mother was never baptised at all until her son John baptised Jesus Christ (the first person to be baptised), it was only then that people decided to come up and be baptised. It never says in the bible if John's mother was baptised or not but she probably was. People got baptised at a much older age back then compared to today's tradition of getting baptised between the age of 0 and 3)
Jehovah's witnesses charge no fees or costs for 1 to be baptised. But someone who is ready for baptism (who has studies the bible with Jehovah's witnesses, and for themselves) and who has applied scriptual council... etc. And truly understands what it means to serve Jehovah are baptised... free of charge.

Not really, Im a Protestant. The thing is that we dont baptise infants full stop. This is because infants dont know what theyre doing so youre just getting them wet. Jesus got baptised when he was a grown man so we baptise people when theyre already old enough to know what theyre doing, im 17 and just got baptised. And yes we baptise in water.
