What is it like to live in San Francisco?

One way many people are able to afford in San Francisco, is that the work for advertising agencies or for many of the start-up companies in San Francisco. Working in Finance and Banking is another way to secure a lucrative job in San Francisco Another way to be able to afford living here, is to be independently wealthy and or just rich. Many people in the city that have average incomes afford to live here by living with roommates. San Francisco is known for it's apartment sharing, where many people will go and rent a house or a nice apartment , but still have to spilt the rent 5 ways.

If you have to ask....it's probably too much. I was there 2 years ago, and while a beautiful city, it is (in my opinion) incredibly inflated. At that time, the AVERAGE house cost approximately $750,000.

San Fran is the coolest city in the world, but it is expensive. I have never been lucky enough to be in the city more than a week or two at a time, but it has given me a taste of it. I have gone to S.F. all of my life and love the city. Public transportation is good, food is good, and the shopping is great. If you like culture you have the art, museums, and history there. The traffic is awful and parking is worse and expensive, so many people who live there don't own cars or keep a car in a parking garage for trips out of the city. It is a diverse city with every culture and every life style in the world. During tourist season it is hard to avoid them and it does get tiring to struggle through them in high tourist areas like China Town. To get around the city I always have a mental picture in my head with the main streets otherwise it is easy to get lost, but I always drive into S.F. Rents are VERY high and apartments are hard to find in good areas. I have know people who rented a space on the floor of an apartment for several hundred a month before they could find their own place. You need a good job to live there.
