US First Class stamps are issued according to size and weight of the package.


There are many classes of mail (Express, Priority, First Class, Parcel Post, Media, etc.). The every day mail you stick in your mailbox is normally First Class Mail. Remember, there are no in-between stamps -if you are even the smallest amount over 1 ounce for a normal letter, you can NOT just add a couple of 1¢ stamps to a 44¢, but must use a 61¢ stamp.
