If the government controls the media, then they have the power to change what it says. When this happens, the people of said country are only hearing news and media that is pro government. The reason that this is dangerous is that it makes the government very hard to dethrone, as all one hears of them is how great they are. Things like this are very characteristic of despotism, and can help lead a country on a road away from a democratic government and towards an autocratic society.

there should be a control or an authority over media to protect the interest of the people. moreover it should also be done so that unnecessary or the unwanted news item can be avoided.
