Best Answer

The standard definition of reading is to silently or loudly look or read the printed word and understand its meaning. However, there is no straightforward definition for reading, as it involves so much more. Reading is not just a matter of decoding words. Reading involves interpretation and comprehension, and this does not have to be of just written text. We read visual and spoken texts as well; we interpret the world around is, reading actions and behaviour of others, and the laws of nature, in order to make sense of our world.
