There are about 12 definitions of culture. Here they are:

  6. Anthropology. the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another.
  7. Biology. a. the cultivation of microorganisms, as bacteria, or of tissues, for scientific study, medicinal use, etc. b. the product or growth resulting from such cultivation.
  8. the act or practice of cultivating the soil; tillage.
  9. the raising of plants or animals, esp. with a view to their improvement.

The word 'culture' may be defined as follows:

2) the beliefs, knowledge, practices, institutions, and artifacts of a particular social group, especially in a particular period of history located in a particular geographical area; civilization

3) the cultivation of bacteria or other biological systems

4) information on a map that depicts those characteristics developed by human industry and skill (e.g. roads, bridges, towns, and boundary lines) as opposed to the natural characteristics of the earth (e.g. rivers, lakes, deserts, and forests)
