I've been a lacto-vegetarian for several years, so surely I'm qualified to answer this question.

Vegetarian food is completely free of all meat, fish, poultry, and other animal products. This includes chicken broth and foods cooked with meat.

Ovo-vegetarians allow eggs in their diet but no dairy products, while lacto-vegetarians allow dairy products, but no eggs. Lacto-ovo-vegetarians allow dairy and eggs.

Many vegetarians also do not include Gelatin in their diets, as it is frequently of animal origin.

Vegetarian food does not contain any meat, or meat products (such as gelatine). It can contain dairy products or eggs.

Non vegetarian food has meat or meat products in.

Note: When I say meat, I include fish. (vegetarians that eat fish are called pesketarians)
