The Hutterites are open to most modern technology, while the Amish shun it. The Hutterites also believe in an undivided way of life, such as what's mine is yours and what's your is mine, while the Amish tend to have a more independent lifestyle.

The Shakers (the United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing) are a religious sect that began as an off-shoot of Protestantism in England in the mid-1700s.
The Amish movement was founded in the 17th century in Europe (Germany & Switzerland) by Jacob Amman, from whom their name is derived. In many ways, it started as a reform group within the Mennonite movement -- an attempt to restore some of the early practices of the Mennonites.
