They are essentially the same. Most people consider sperry to be the "real" brand and Highland Creek to be a rip-off or imitator. I own a pair of highlands and they are great. I've heard that sperries retain their form longer and are of higher quality, which is probably true being as highlands are about $50 cheaper. But they are supposed to break in easier and i like the extra cash in my pocket :)
Just don't expect Highlands to last. I bought a pair 2.5 months ago. The soles fell off both, and I only wear them to work in an office.
