What is the difference between an AM and an MA degree?

MA stands for Master of Arts

MFA stands for Master of Fine Arts

Usually, to obtain an MA degree you study the already produced art you are getting your degree in (i.e. the study of english)

while to obtain an MFA degree you study the actual practice of the art (i.e. creative writing)

There is no difference but I have never heard of AM being used - MA is certainly much more common, it seems that some universities (e.g. a few in USA) use AM
