What is the difference between a .net and .com extension in a URL?

[Edit]

Answer

To the general users there is no difference.

.com's are normally used for COMmercial organisations.

.NET's can be used for just about anything.

They're just different domains names although some hosts do make available different feature sets depending on which domain you use.
