the ypt and psr series are EXACTLY alike except for the color the ypt series is released to retailers such as best buy, whereas the psr series are released to music stores such as guitar center same keyboards....different sellers. always stick with the ypt, cause psr cost about three times as much
All right! More than happy to help! I asked the same question myself. Then I went on http://music.yamaha.com
They list all the keyboards and their specifications. I put them next to each other scrolling down bit by bit and I came up with this: (Let me just mention that I did the same with YPT410 and PSRE403 and THEY ARE IDENTICAL!!!totally! some people say difference in price is cause of different target market).
Anyway let s list the difference between PSRE413 and YPT410:
PSRE413 ............................................................YPT410
509 natural voices and arpaggios..................... 504
sleep mode yes................................................sleeep mode no
6 AA batteries...................................................6 D size batteries
music database 300+external files
(allows music database files transferred
from a computer or stored on
a USB flash memory stick....................................256
number of preset styles 165.............................. 155
arpeggio styles 100...........................................50
preset 20 arpeggio............................................ 15
dimensions
width 946.............................................................952
height 136.......................................................... 146
depth 402............................................................388
As you can see, spec. difference is minimal, and price diff. is smth to consider.
The only real difference is regarding music database, check that and the presence or absence of sleeping mode. THAT IS ALL! WHATEVER I DIDNT MENTION, IS TOTALLY SAME!!!!
Choose wise. I of course bought YPT 410 which was considerably cheaper, for basically the same thing!
New Contribution:
I find the YPT-410 has ever so slightly less clarity than the E413, possibly because of the speaker quality. Front Panel response on the E413 is slightly quicker and is less cluttered in my opinion. Note also that E413 has 509 voices, and its arpeggio functions are more sophisticated and sound better than those of the YPT-410.
On the other hand, I bought the YPT-410 (+KIT) for $100 cheaper than the E413. If you've never tried the E413, you'll be very pleased with the YPT-410.
I think the difference is the size of the keys.PSR has full size(Regular) keys . PSS has half size ( Smaller)keys.
the difference is the Yamaha is better

The Yamaha U3 is slightly larger than the Yamaha U1, this is the most significant difference. The larger size of the U3 results in longer strings and consequently to a richer and warmer sound.
The only difference I see is the di version includes the ac power adapter.
