What is the difference between a city carrier and a rural carrier associate in the USPS?

Answer:
A CITY CARRIER IS A FULL TIME JOB.A RUAL CARRIER ASSOCIATE IS A PART TIME POSITION.
The rural carrier associate was originally there to perform city carrier functions.
Although conversion from a rural route to a city route is not done due to a court order, the rural carrier associate was supposed to fire the regualr carrier to avoid a strike situation and become the City carrier. The rural carrier associate does not have to be a full time job, but can be more than full time as in rural carrier associate with auxilary route. Since the rural carrier associate can have the designation 6X, it is actually city management. Being that the rural carrier associate is basically a cross threaded postal police/city carrier and living warrant he is nicknamed "Deputy Postal Inspector Junior Graded". No other postal employee is this trusted or versitle or self promoting.
