What is the difference between a crown court and a magistrates court?

Answer:
Most offences are dealt with by a magistrates court. This consists of 3 local magistrates (volunteers with some basic training) under supervision of a Clerk of the Court, a legal expert.

A Crown Court deals with the most serious crimes, and appeals from the Magistrate's Courts. It has a fully qualified judge and a jury.
