What is the difference between a eukaryote or a prokaryote?

Answer:
  1. Prokaryotes do not have a nucleus, and their DNA is free floating, while eukaryotes do have a nucleus (where DNA is found).
  2. Prokaryotes usually only have a plasma membrane, DNA, ribosomes, cytoplasm, and often times a cell wall.
  3. Prokaryotic ribosomes are smaller than eukaryotic ones (by about 10S)
  4. Flagella, while shown in prokaryotes, are NOT made of microtubules.

However, the most distinctive difference between the two is that the eukaryotes have a nucleus, while prokaryotes do not.
