there are 3 different kinds of HD TV's:
LCD, Plasma, and DLP. LCD's are best value for the smaller HD's (like under 42"), Plasma is best for like 42 - 56", and DLP is best for anything really big. They are all capable of 720p and 1080p. The only hidden cost is the extra cost you have to pay to your cable company to get HD programming. Of course you can still get regular crappy old programming on it for no extra cost, and you can get HD programming over the air for free, but depending on where you live, there'll probably only be a few channels and it will be stuff like ABC, NBC, you know, the typical over-the-air programming.

∙ 12y agoLCD and LED are technically both LCDs. Both are liquid crystal displays, but LED TVs have LED lights around the outside to help with the illumination. Because of this, LED TVs are more energy efficient.

∙ 11y agoLED stands for Light Emitting Diode, while LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. LED televisions give the viewer better picture quality, higher pixalization, and do not require the backlight of a traditional LCD television.

∙ 12y agoThere is quite a few difference between a led HD and a plasma TV. For starters, the LCD is more compact than that of a plasma TV. There is also a difference in viewing experience when it comes to color and pixel imaging. hdtv just means high definition but may still have lcd- there are other types such as projection.
