A stroke occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery or a blood vessel breaks, blocking blood flow to the brain; brain cells begin to die and brain damage occurs. On the other hand, when someone "faints" they do have a decreased blood flow to the brain, but it is caused by a temporary unconsciousness.

A stroke is a neurological event caused by disruption of blood flow to the brain, leading to damage of brain tissue. Fainting, on the other hand, is a temporary loss of consciousness usually due to a temporary drop in blood pressure or reduced blood flow to the brain. Strokes require immediate medical attention as they can lead to serious complications, while fainting often resolves on its own.
