A wholesale business sells in bulk, at low prices, sometimes to the general public, sometimes not.
A Retail business sells to the general public at retail prices, which are a lot higher than wholesale prices, but people can buy just one if that's all they need.
A distribution business does not sell to the general public. They only sell to retail stores.
Many manufacturers do not sell to the general public but get their goods to the public by selling in large quantity (5,000 pieces and up) to distributors, who then sell it in smaller quantity to retail stores.
