Acquired disabilities are those that occur after birth through injury, illness, or other external factors, while developmental disabilities are present from birth and typically affect cognitive, motor, or social-emotional skills. Acquired disabilities can be sudden or progressive in nature, while developmental disabilities are typically identified early in childhood.

Acquired and developmental disabilities are distinct categories of disabilities that differ in their origin and onset.

Acquired disabilities are those that occur after birth as a result of injury, illness, or environmental factors. These disabilities can develop at any point in a person's life and are often the result of accidents, infections, or chronic conditions. Examples include traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and disabilities caused by conditions like stroke or cancer.

On the other hand, developmental disabilities are present from birth or emerge during early childhood due to neurological, genetic, or developmental factors. These conditions typically manifest during a person's formative years and are often lifelong. Examples of developmental disabilities include autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.

In summary, acquired disabilities arise later in life due to external factors, while developmental disabilities are inherent and typically manifest during early stages of development. Both types require specialized care and support tailored to the individual's unique needs.

Answer

When someone has an acquired disability it means they have received the disability as a result of an accident such as a car accident. A physical injury of some kind has created their disability. A developmental disability is when there is a genetic problem of some sort that creates the disability rather than the person receiving a disability as a result of being injured.
