A Gene is specific chromosomal trait which determines something physical while an allele is the external possibilities of differing genes when passing hereditary traits from parents to offspring. Alleles are individual genes which have a chance of matching up depending on the genes of the parents. Each parent contributes half of their genes during conception in order to have an offspring. each parent also carries recessive genes or recessive alleles in other words which determine other possible random genetic inheritance. for example, if your mother had black hair and your father had black hair, the dominant allele trait would be the gene for Black hair but your parents also carry a dormant or recessive set of alleles which CAN match up and give you a different appearance. For example if your paternal and maternal grandmothers had blond hair then your parents would have a recessive allele trait for the Blond Gene and if they both have this blond gene it means that you can be born with Blond hair, which would be totally different from the appearance of your parents but not outside the genetic inheritance. To further explain things please search Punnet Squares and Gregor Mendel's pea plant research and experiments for genetic inheritance information.

An allele is a sequence variant of a gene.

alleles - a pair of genes controlling the same characters which are located at the same locus in the homologous chromosomes.

gene is a fundamental unit of heredity. also it is a segment of DNA having a particular base pair.

What is a different between allele and gene?

an allele is a gene that is the cause of hereditary variation

Difference between a gene and an allele?

The alleles are the different forms of the gene. This is simplified, but an example might be, if the gene is "eye color," the alleles would be "green, blue, brown, etc." The variations in the gene are the alleles.

What is the difference between a gene allele Chromosome and trait?

Alleles are alternate versions of genes that code for certain phenotypes, or traits. The traits of an individual are a result of the interaction between their genotype (alleles) and the environment.

Is allele a gene?

yes an allele is a gene

What is the difference between dominant and Codominance?

The difference between dominant and codominance is power, influence and importance which defines the word dominant. Codominance is an allele gene individuals receive by both parents which is two versions of a gene in relationship to each other.

Allele in gene or gene in allele?

Alleles are the specific form of a gene e.g. gene for 'eye colour, allele for 'blue eyes'. Therefore the alleles are in the genes.

What is the alternate form of a gene?

The answer is allele

Are alleles more than genes or genes more than alleles in eukaryotic cells?

An allele is essentially the same as a gene so there is no difference in quantity between the two in any cell. Gene is a more common general reference to genetic material at a particular locus whereas allele often refers to an example of variation at a gene locus. For example the allele for tall (T)

What is e difference between a dominate and recessive allele?

The answer is that The difference is that dominant dominates, and recessive is dominated.

Alternative versions of a gene?

One or more forms of a gene that codes for a specific trait is also known as an allele

Is an allele bigger then a gene?

An allele is a gene. It is one form of a gene. For example, height in pea plants is controlled by one gene with two forms. A pea plant can be tall or short. There is a short allele and a tall allele for the gene governing height.

What is member of a gene pair that determines a specific trait is?

an allele
