In the US Army a medic is considered an aidman. However a litter bearer is something different entirely. Line and combat arms companies (such as infantry, artillery, MP, combat engineers, etc) the company will be divided up into teams. One such team is called the aid and litter team. They generally stick close to the medic and carry some of his medical supplies (such as a bag of extra IV fluids or a collapsible litter) and provide him added security. As the name suggests they also help carry the litter.
As far as what is an Aidman? It WAS the proper title for a medic during World War II. The current proper title is health care specialist. The job is still the same.
