In Islam, Prophets (anbiyaa) were people who were contacted by the Divine and given instructions to guide people in/to the faith which already existed. For example many anbiyaa were sent to the Israelites after Moses to guide them upon the straight path and to help the follow the laws and tecahings of the Torah and the religion of Moses. Messengers (Rusul) were also prophets, but they were different in that they were given new scriptures and new laws such as Moses was given the Torah, Jesus was given the Gospel, Muhammad was given the Quran etc. All Anbiya were prophets, but not all prophets were ambiya.

All Christian Prophets are Saints, but not all Saints are Prophets. A Prophet speaks the word of God and has a special relationship with God so that God speaks through him or her. The church recognizes certain individuals as Saints. Such individuals may have healing power and special abilities but do not necessarily speak a special word from God in various situations.
