sperm cells are haploid and only contain half of the normal chromosomes (so when a sperm and egg fuse and form a zygote they contain a full set of chromosomes) and go through meiosis. normal cells are diploid (2n) and contain a full set of chromosomes and go through mitosis.

Yes. It is a gamete and only has a haploid number of chromosomes. It does not live as long as the other cells and is very fragile. It must remain in the epididymus in order to stay alive. It also doesn't contain much organelles. Since its only goal is to fertilize the egg, the only organelle that a sperm cell has are some mitochondria to move its flagella.
