What is the difference between a net book and a laptop?

first of all the ipad is a tablet and netbooks have a physical keyboard but tablets don't and all tablets have touch screens but netbooks don't. but you can buy netbooks with touch screens and those are called netvertibles or tablet netbooks.

A notebook or netbook computer is a smaller screen, cut-down version of a standard laptop, usually without a built-in CD/DVD drive. Although they run standard programs (but not games or others that require high processor or graphic capabilities), they are intended primarily for internet access or multimedia playback.

Tablet computers, which also have touch screens, are replacing notebook and netbooks to some degree.

The main difference between a laptop and notebook/netbook is physical size and portability. Notebook/netbooks also tend to have lower spec. OS. They are less power hungry and therefore less powerful with regard to graphics and other capabilities. Also notebook/netbook configurations don't tend to have onboard optical drives (DVD etc.) and less plug and play ports. Tablet Pc's are really large mobile phones and therefore not actually personal computers although they do fulfill many of the functions with regard to internet access etc. These also have lower spec. OS (android) and no internal input devices (like DVD). This is another question with regard to what you want from the device itself.

Netbooks have a better configuration when compared to a Tablet PC. Tablet PCs don't have keyboards usually and that is the worst part. Price of a netbook is lower when compared to a tablet.
