Plant Characteristics – Muskmelon (Cucumis melo'reticulatus') is commonly known in the trade as a cantaloupe. However, no cantaloupes are actually grown commercially in the United States, only muskmelons. Cantaloupes (Cucumis melo'cantaloupensis') are a rough warty fruit while muskmelon have the characteristic netting on the fruit rind.
* You can tell just by looking at them; watermelons have smooth, hard green skins, and cantaloupes have rough, slightly spongy beige colored skins. Watermelons are usually bigger as well. There are several differences between cantaloupes and watermelons: * Canteloupes are generally round in shape; watermelons are more often longer although some varieties are roundish. * Canteloupes have a rough textured, beigish-color skin (when ripe); watermelons are generally smooth and green. * Canteloupe meat is orange colored; watermelon meat is reddish-pink. * Canteloupe seeds are enclosed in the center of the fruit; watermelon seeds are disbursed throughout the fruit. * Canteloupe and watermelon flavors resemble and compliment each other in that they are both melons, but watermelon tends to be sweeter, more juicy, and contains more fiberous tissue.
There are several varieties of sweet melon. Cantaloupe is one.
The typically orange melon is spelled cantaloupe (also called rockmelons).
Honeydew. Honeydew is very healthy. But, cantaloupe is also a good alternative too.

cantaloupe was named for a castle in Italy the true cataloupe is a European melon that is not exported. American cantaloupes are actually muskmelons. when perfectly ripe these cantaloupes have a raised netting on a smooth grayish beige skin. the pale orange flesh is extremely juicy and sweet.
No.
I like both cantaloupe and honey dew but I mean cantaluope is not as sweet as honey dew (or atleast that's what I think) so I'm just going to say that cantaloupe is healthier!

A melon with a bumpy surface, with orange flesh. It tastes sweeter and is chewier than most other melons. It is a greyish color melon with an orange interior (the part you eat) that is often served as a breakfast food. If you have never had one then you should go buy one and eat it, they are awesome, i would also suggest honeydew melon.
