The two extremes of view as to the beginning of life are that (1) life begins at birth; (2) life begins at conception. An intermediate view could be that life is possible when the foetus is viable, but not yet born.
The 'pro-choice' and 'pro-life' debate is broader than just the beginning of life, but most pro-choice advocates would see life beginning at birth or, in some cases, when the foetus is viable. Pro-life advocates almost unanimously see life beginning at conception.
