What is the difference in a small forward and a shooting forward?

Answer:

a small forward needs to be lean and sharp. he will often try for steals, and drive into the key. once in the key, some SF like to jump shoot, other layup. main purpose to score. SF's main zone is the (usually outer) key, and near the free point area. also shud be good at free shots.

A shooting forward is someone who likes to take 3's but goes in often. Usually does not go into the key, but borders it, ready for an easy jump shot. dont think about layups, only jumpers. dont use the backboard, u will not always be in a good position to do so. 3 point shots are good, but if u are a shooting forward and not a shooting guard, dont stay outside the 3 point line for 2 long.
