I just had my pre-cana class and they said 50% of all marriages end in divorce. The number goes steeply higher as you re-marry (ie. 60% of second marriages and about 75% of 3rd marriages).

That information is not yet available. The last year it was available was in 2003. (When the last census was done, I suppose.)

Can one person be divorced and the other still married?

In the US... Assuming you're talking about two people married to each other, no, one can't still be married and the other be divorced. They're either both married to each other or both divorced from each other. It is possible that a divorce was granted without one party being aware of it, if they were unable to locate that person to serve notice of the divorce, in which case they do a divorce by publication (publish a legal notice in the newspaper).

Can you receive communion if you were not married by the church and divorced?

You may receive communion as a divorced Catholic, but not upon remarriage, unless you first have an annulment. This is true regardless of where your marriage was performed because all marriages are presumed valid. The church will consider you married until you receive an annulment, but you have not sinned simply by being divorced.
