What is the easiest way of learning the splits?

Answer:
I was never in gymnastic or anything and i wasnt really skinny, well i wasnt skinny...but anyway every night i would stretch for a while and i remember it started working. i actually put my leg on the wall, held it straight and touch the floor.. that worked for me.?!?

2nd answerer says: I WAS in gymnastics: Daily practice -carefully- preferably under adult supervision in case you hurt yourself! -is the key.
And remember to WARM UP FIRST!
Every time you injure yourself, you delay your practice another day!
So don't hurt yourself!

-I was already able to put both my legs in the "lotus position" when I began to stretch out for "The Splits". Within six months I could do the "Chinese Splits" as well as the "Olympic Splits".
-This was under adult supervision from a certified Phys. Ed. Instructor.
