Coconut water and Cytokinin

in the history of orchid micropropagatiion, western scientist did not use it, since there is no coconut tree in Europe. But in Java Island, scientist who works in the Bogor (Buitenzorg) Botanical Garden in Indonesia; become acquinted with CW (coconut water; colorless liquid of coconut endosperm) not CM (coconut milk= santan in Indonesian) ie; Johannes van Overbeek.

He and Mr M E Conklin, suggested it's use to Albert Blakeslee for the culture of immature embryos of Datura stramonium. The embrios grew well in the presence of CW and and an efficient complex additive was introduced into plant tissue culture. Nowadays, CW is used widely in tissue culture and micro propagation of many plants

Do coconut milk help grow new plants from old plants because it contains?

Coconut milk contains Nutrients and enzymes needed for plant growth. Coconut milk is, therefore, used as medium in tissue culture experiments.

What media does Chlamydia pneumoniae grow on?

Chlamydia cannot be grown on conventional bacteriological medium. A tissue culture system has been available that allows easier laboratory culture of the Chlamydia species. However, with the exception of the LGV serovars, most C. trachomatis strains do not readily infect tissue culture cells.Chlamydia cannot be grown on conventional bacteriological medium. A tissue culture system has been available.

What are the main function of the agar in the plant tissue culture medium?

Why do people plant coconut palms?

Coconuts are used for a number of things: The oil is used for drinking, hair tonic and even as a medium in tissue culture. The coconut "meat" is used for eating as well as dried and using in baking and cooking. The coconut husk (fibre around the seed) is used for to produce mates, brooms and brushes, the by-product of this is used as a growing medium for plants and seedlings (coconut "peat"). The trunk of the palm (when it dies) is used for a number of things including containers, fibre and decoration. The plants themselves are used both for fruit production as well as their use in ornimental landscaping

Are tissue culture and plant tissue culture same?

In plant tissue culture, cells of plants are cultured. In tissue culture, cells (of plants, animals, bacteria, etc.) are cultured. Plant tissue culture is just like a subheading under tissue culture

Why medium is considered to be very important in tissue culture technique?

In tissue culture, the medium also called the sterile jelly is very essential because it provides all the necessary nutrients , hormones , enzyme which is needed for the growth and development of the tissue and helps it to produce many cells which form a shapeless mass called a 'callus' .This then could be transferred to another jelly which helps it to develop roots and another to develop shoot which then could be transplanted to pots or soil which helps it to mature and grow to form new plant . hence medium is considered very important in tissue culture technique.

Why the callus is first transferred to rooting medium in plant tissue culture?

Callus is just a lump of cell/tissue. A plant needs roots to survive. that's why callus is kept in a rooting medium where it grows roots (several saplings as a aingle structure).

Direct and indirect morphogenesis in Plant tissue culture?

Callogenesis is the shoot development in callus, due to low auxin and hign cytokinin concentration in the culturing medium during tissue culture.
